Whichever you choose, try and get something that doesn't share a NIC with the OS. I normally go for the time-honoured serial console to a box running conserver and a masterswitch though (on a separate lan: you don't really want this sort of thing, ILO/DRAC or masterswitch or IP KVM or whatever else, on your main lan unprotected).
