try ebay for quad dc(4), znyx and others (they were used in netapp filers). these should be fine if they'll fit your chassis (some are full-length cards, which can be a problem).
you sometimes get quad fxp but not often, they're fine too. afaik these two, dc and fxp, are the better performing of the 100mb cards (due to interrupt mitigation). there should be no trouble finding cheap Sun quad cards supported by hme(4), look for "quad hme" or "qfe" or "quad fast ethernet". (yes they work on i386). these are short cards (though *just* too long to fit a soekris net5501 case, for those who are interested). new, you'll find sis(4) (soekris lan1641) and vr(4) (routerboard have one of these), sis are probably the better choice of those two. quad gigabit cards are pricey (niche market) and IME a bit fussy about which machines they run in.
