this diff cannot affect the behavior of your system. the code below deals with domain validation on SPI mpi variants while the x4100 uses SAS mpi. the code you patched isnt run on your machine.

Not sure I understand your statement, but as a test, I did exactly that and I have no more crash at all.

the code in mpi.c you are modifying does not get run on the x4100s.

I have redone the tests with yet again a fresh install and you are 100% right. My apology for my false hope. It must have been a combination of the reboot and one of these time out of may be 15 reboot that it is way more stable until the next reboot where it will react again poorly.

in my opinion the only way it can affect your systems is by causing something to be moved around in memory, perhaps out of the way of something else that is borked.

I guess, that may be the only valid course of action here then. That may be shown by the difference in the iic1 code in dmesg between not working boot and stable one where so far, I am up to three time out of may be 50 or 60 by now in the last few hours that are stable and doing a diff between the dmesg doesn't show any differences between them.

Could it be in the iic1 section of the dmesg then?

I am back to the drawing board then. I thought I maid progress, now I am down again. (;<

This was fun for some time, but now it sure start not to be so much fun.

Best and thanks for your previous comments.
