What I don't understand is why most cards perform very well on FreeBSD, but
fail to perform on OpenBSD...

- I have a newish kingston which is slow (1.5MB/s "elite
pro cf/1GB-S 50x") - and a bunch of assorted old 32-64MB
cards, the majority of which are reasonably quick
(fujifilm, sandisk and pqi come to mind)
