Only if you can answer the question, "what problem is it creating?"

Rolling your own kernel WILL cause problems.
Now, the question is, are the new problems less than the problems you
are having with the GENERIC kernel?  Simply seeing a "small" amount
of RAM after the kernel loads is NOT defined as a problem, btw.

Heck, the OP still has a lot of RAM left over for simple  userland
apps.  If he's really running that much "stuff" in his machine that
he's exhausting that, he really needs an upgrade of his hardware...
you just can't gain enough by removing drivers to really change the
fact that he's got a really small machine by 2007 standards.  If
what he is doing works well in 32M, great, but don't expect to
customize your way into running Mozilla...
