Specifially, I want to verify you can edit the boot script to allow
automated OpenBSD boot. Also, what kind of throughput can you get
on the Realtek 1Gb NICs?
The later versions of the firmware (which I got) apparently do not
allow automated boot. I was very disappointed to find this out. I
can't comment on performance of the NICs because I have not used them
very much. I have posted a couple of messages to this list about this
but got no responses. My conclusion is that there is no way to have
automated boot.
The boot script setting basically has no effect even though you can
set it. I have been wondering if there is some way to change the name
of the boot file or something to make it work but I have not pursued
it and I figured someone would pipe up if there were such a solution.
I am running a Thecus N2100 with two 160 GB WD RE hard drives in a
RAIDframe RAID 1 and it seems to run very nicely. I was going to run
this as a light duty mail server for testing purposes but the lack of
automated boot made using it for production basically impossible.
