Just a thought may be. Would be nice that the new parts possible would be release under BSD and what can't be, would still be GPL, then if that's of good interest to some, may be someone else might step to finish it up and replace the end GPL parts if possible. Specially if you spend some much time making it to run one OpenBSD that is BSD based license.

In the light of all that happened in the last week or so, that might be a good idea.
