I doubt that this is the problem. Note that the OP's system is one of the rare ones which keep the dmesg buffer across reboots - there are actually two dmesgs in what was posted. On such systems, the BIOS memory test frequently trashes bits in the dmesg buffer. The final dmesg in the buffer is intact. Thanks Tom
