Thanks for the tip, but that only talks about when the zaurus is on. I'd turned it completely off. I'm hoping it was just a fluke though.

think long and hard before you trash the partition table. hint: you don't want to use the whole disk for openbsd.
I don't? I mean, I know to save the first few sectors for the partition table, but isn't the rest fair game?

CF cards. usb sticks. you could probably use the usb-client ethernet emulation (man cdce cdcef)
