I was running OpenBSD on my new Thinkpad T60. Work requires me to run Windows, so it was dual boot. For the most part, things worked well, but several issues prevented me from retaining it. One is that my model was widescreen, and the console text was rather stretched. Not a huge issue, but it did make it annoying to use. Secondly, due to the same issue, I was not able to get a widescreen resolution on it, at least not the native resolution of 1680x1050. Lastly, when I exited X11, due to a bug the console font was HUGE, rendering the console unusable until I restarted, if I happened to exit X11.
This is just my model, however, which is widescreen with an ATI Mobility Radeon x1400. I moved to FreeBSD for now, and ended up mainly using an OpenBSD image in VMware. Horrendously insecure, yes, performance poor, but it didn't have the display issues and nothing of any interest or importance is on the laptop anyways. Perhaps these issues can be cleared up when Xenocara is integrated? I would like to move back to a native OpenBSD. On 3/8/07, Johan P.
