I'd try "Designing and Building Parallel Programs by Ian Foster.  Its
website is www.msc.anl.gov/dbpp ; its ISBN is 0-201-57594-9.

The author is involved in the GLOBUS project and that's why I bought it.  I
have not had time to read it.
