Running inside VMware ESX2.5.1, kernel from 16FEB, I was just getting ready to gather info on why the box was crashing with vic(4) enabled, and this crash happened.
vic(4) apparently has issues. It crashes on VMware Server 1.01 running Linux as the host. I suggest you try a different emulation. e1000 (as in em(4)) works fine for me. pcn(4) has issues in 4.0-STABLE which should be fixed in -current.
BTW if anyone has a good way of getting this info out of virtual machines, I'd love to know - this was all copied out by hand.
You can get serial access to the VMware guest console by adding a virtual named pipe (at least on VMware server) and connecting thru that. You'll need a terminal program capable connecting to named pipes or using some tcp <-> named pipe proxy.
