You need to manually edit your configuration file. To quote vic(4) manual page: The following entry must be added to the VMware configuration file to provide the vic device: ethernet0.virtualDev = "vmxnet" http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=vic&apropos=0&sektion=0&manpath=OpenBSD+Current&arch=i386&format=html
