AFAIK, the bittorrent client includes a new distributed tracker scheme
where it permits the clients to exchange information about files even
with the tracker down. With this enabled, many clients try to connect
directly to you. I recall having to disable this option when using both
the oficial bitorrent client and when using the azureus client. With it
enabled, your traffic increases a lot, it looks almost like a ddos. Take
a look on this. If your pflog shows you a lot of connection attempts
both on udp and tcp random ports from many different ip's, then it's
almost certain that the distributed tracker is enabled.
