it seems nobody uses minipci ralink cards ... :-(
Sure we do. Pretty cheap too...
I stopped using it and eventually gave it away after i saw the
performance of wi(4)... never been happier.
My girlfriend has an internal 1Mbit wi(4) in her laptop. I "upgraded" it
with a 54Mbit ral(4) card. She complained about how slow it was and if
she turned a certain way it would lose connectivity. So I pulled it and
she is back to your old 1Mbit card and she is happy. This is on a windoz
machine, but I have the same issues on my OBSD laptops too.
Unfortunately, I heard all the rave about the ral(4) driver so I went
and bought a couple of ral cards (Zonet, LevelOne). I have nothing to
compare my crappy ral cards with so I just might get an ath(4) card to
see what happens.
I do have two OBSD APs, one with an Linksys PCI ath(4) and the other
with a LevelOne PCI ral(4). When I connect my ral(4) PCCards to the ath
AP, my connection is somewhat better, but ral(node) <-> ral(AP) is
almost useless and very frustrating.
