I have seen this error too. OpenBSD is running low on programming resources .

The best way you can help is fix this problem yourself and submit a patch.

I have diddled around with mpg321 code and libao a while ago. The code is not 
of the highest quality.

You can possibly make do with mplayer. That way you have support for rewind and 
ff as well. :)
