I've been working on this for a bit now, but something keeps eluding me.
I haven't had this problem before that I can recall, but when trying to
use a serial tty, I get no login prompt.

my relevant /etc/ttys line:

    tty00 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" vt220 on

snipped output of 'ps -ax':

    9790 ?? I 0:00.00 /usr/libexec/getty std.9600 tty00

I'm currently using an SCS160 from Logical Solutions to connect to all
the serial lines on all of my servers. Just for safety's sake though, I
attempted to connect from my laptop using ckermit as well...neither were
a go.

stty settings from the SCS160:

    stty --mode=dce -F /dev/ttyB12 9600 buffer -parenb -parodd cs8
-cstopb -inpck ignbrk ignpar -iexten clocal -istrip -opost
-onlcr time 5 ixon ixoff -crtscts

ckermit settings from laptop running Linux:

    set line /dev/ttyS0
    set speed 9600
    set carrier-watch off

both programs actually establish a connection and I can type all day
long, but I get nothing back -- no login prompt, no warnings, no errors.
At first I thought that the TTY might just be timing out from receiving
bad text, but I left it there overnight to no avail.

if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks. dmesg output
