In similar arguments, it might even be better to argue just the other way round: Please provide hardware and firmware documentation. Just in case you have no docs for you product (oooops?!?!), then, but only as a second best, please provide driver source code in order to at least simplify reverse engineering for the *BSD kernel developers. But don't take that as an excuse to refrain from properly documenting your product!
