I'm working with a university on a cluster using USB 2.0 network bridge
cables, cdce(4), for node interconnects. The current "cables" are Acer
Labs USB 2.0 Data Link based. Throughput tests indicates a bottleneck at
~74Mbps even with only one cable connected.

I'm interested in knowing if anyone else is using USB 2.0 network bridge
cables, specifically the Prolific PL-2501 based versions, and what kindof
performance are they getting.

If your interested in the project it's a 27 node cluster using dual CPU
VIA EPIA DP-310 motherboards, with an additional USB 2.0 board occupying
the sole PCI slot. The cluster nodes are interconnected via 6 USB network
bridge cables in a 6 way torroidal mesh, to simulate the interconnects of
a current design Cray super computer.
