savecore and swap with raidframe works fine for me (.. beleive me, I know) However, My swap, /, and /var are standard partitions on sd0. I do not use root on raid. For your need of mirroring, I modified /etc/daily to perform a daily dump of /var in the same way in which it dumps / to a backup partition. So /var lies on a standard partition, and thus savecore works fine. Maybe this can solve your need for raidframe mirror setup? Will gladly send a diff.
