i've seen a few posts on misc@ where ppl complain that "cipher X isn't
supported" when it comes to encryption on openbsd. the responses i have seen
from devs are the expected "do it yourself" or "knobs suck" arguments, which
make sense from both the workload and simplicity/elegance standpoints. i'm going
to try my hand at generating code for some block ciphers besides the ones i see
present in openbsd (Blowfish, DES, Triple DES and AES).

i would appreciate feedback on what block cipher ppl would most like to see
first. you needn't clutter misc@ with your suggestions if you feel it wouldn't
be productive, just send them to me directly.

the NSA claims to use a number of ECC methods in their Suite B crypto

http://www.nsa.gov/ia/industry/crypto_suite_b.cfm

and it is notable that a number of ECC algorithms are patented. if anyone could
suggest an ECC algorithm that is both potentially useful and not patented, i
would appreciate it.

cheers,
jake
