Option 3): Get another box behind your ramdisk filter box, pop OpenBSD
and your-fav-MTA on it, pass mail to that box. Use internal DNS to route
mail to xtrange. A PII, 128Mb & 3Gb will do the job for a small office.

Option 4): Mess about with your proxy idea, and use an off site backup
MX box for when your script shuts down port 25. Google for MX backup,
quite a few firms do it for not a lot of dosh.
