The word "trunk" is overloaded. trunk(4) [the (4) referring to a manual page from section 4] is likely to be the meaning intended when the word `trunk' is used on this list, which allows you to run cables from two or more NICs to one or more switches (with failover/loadbalance etc). vlan trunking / dot1q trunking (cisco term) just means you have a bunch of tagged vlans running over one physical interface. > I agree about the security issue.
