What's the question? "No luck" at what?
What is not working as you expect?
What you are proposing should work, though you are doing the "more is
better" thing on the blocksize more than needed. 64k or 128k is quite
sufficient.
It will take a while, and your HW isn't wickedly fast...but I have used
this process myself.
