thats exactly it! i turned it on during testing. just to note - i don't see this on other systems that operate in carp environments, but this noisy-ass colo facility has ciscowned vrrp everywhere - so it must be that

Likely, though per default carp shouldn't log those packets. Did you change net.inet.carp.log to '1'?
