horde needs an update for a security problem. someone with spare time should try updating it and send the maintainer a diff...it's unlikely to be difficult. roundcube is nice but ajax-only, which is a problem for some users. hastymail is reasonably nice and the docs tell you about chroot'ed install. this comes up fairly often, the list archives will find some more. there's different software for different users and without more information about what's needed, nobody can make a good suggestion, just try some...
