A lot of work has been done by myself and krw@ at the hackathon
to improve support for st(4) and ch(4) devices. In particular we have
fixed up support for tape and changer devices so that opening a scsi tape
device should be much more reliable (an open of the tape device should
acutally mount the tape now)
Additionally some work has been done to improve ch(4) and I have
added bar code reader support to the kernel and to chio(8). These changes
should be visible in new snapshots available soon.
One problem with doing this work is a lack of changer devices. While
I have access to a number of them at my day job, to ensure that fixes
work and are compatible with several types of changers you really need
access to more of these devices, as they have some interesting quirks.
So, anyone with a working tape changer *with media* who wants to find
it a good home, please contact me. Particularly if it has a barcode
reader. I'm sure either myself or krw could put it to good use.
