Absolutely one of my motivations to see how far I can get with it. I want to use as much as I can from base & packages, and compile as little as possible, while maximising uniformity. Otherwise I'll become a software developer and not a systems admin. I've worked in a few places where they've used PHP for this, ASP for that, Java for something else, with Perl thown in too. Then they wonder why departments that use different systems can't coordinate their work. I've done a clean install of 3.9 and am slowly working through my wish list to see if I can get a workable test system. I'm totally new to CPAN (needed for RT) and Perl, so this may take me a while.
