You probably don't have the compiler installed at all. Did you install comp39.tgz? If not, see section 4.10 of the FAQ. Btw, there should be snapshots coming up now which already include the 945 patches for both the kernel and X.org, so maybe it's easier to try one of those. Cheers, Dimitry
