http://www.bwct.de/en-multi_serial.html is inexpensive but will need a driver written or ported from FreeBSD (ubser, anyone looking at this will want to start from earlier code from when their TTY layer was... simpler). Doesn't fit neatly into ucom(4) framework, though. "The logical interface is quite simple. You have bulk endpoints to send and receive data. The first byte of each USB packet holds the port number. Additionally there is a control command to query the number of ports on a given device." I have one I don't need any more, I could post to a developer if interested (ask offlist)...
