I've set the sata mode to "compatibility" mode.
It did find a hd but I got timeouts like the following:
wd0(pciide0:0:0): timeout
type:ata
c_bcount: 512
c_skip:0

It appears to hang afterwards ...

I booted with "boot -c" to enter ukc.
I disabled pciide, and now I'm able to start the install ... I hope I'll 
succeed ;-)

That is the pci id for the AHCI mode.
See if you can change the SATA mode in the bios.

If that doesn't help I'll look into things further.
