That is optional at the discretion of the ISP, default UK ADSL is VC-MUX and therefore PPPoA. It can't be both PPPoE and PPPoA. It is unusual for UK ISPs to use PPPoE for ADSL, some use it for (LLU) SDSL. You may want to check with your provider to ensure that you are using the correct protocol.
