No one is owing you anything. Love it, or leave it. It's distributed as so called tar balls. Either you know the consequences that has, or you don't. What's so bad about a tool, telling you what files would not exist on your filesystem after a fresh install? You somehow doubt those files can be deleted. Well. Those files would not exist after a fresh install. You do have to maintain the system yourself. There is no e.g. aptitude dist-uprade, taking nearly years to provide a working upgrade path. Would not fit with the release cycle.
