Well, there was a release:

This release is still considered beta, since 3k of commits went in that
tree and there could be bugs.
As for the "politics":
"It doesn't matter which country you're coming from, your political

boots or heels, whether you're furry or fairy, Conan or McKay, comic
character, a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri, or just a boring
average person. Anybody who's interested in bringing X forward is
welcome."
There is no code of conduct, just the request to treat everyone civilly.
There is also a call to distributions and operating systems that have
their own forks (like OpenBSD has) to collaborate.
