Hello, Just to say that, after a little year, I gave an other try to Mate 1.28 and it went up with fewer pain than the last one and all appears now properly set.
> 1) Mate is much lighter, eg tcl/tk software go up like a twist; Confirming this point. 2) Screens: About managing the screens I reduced my xorg.conf to few lines as possible, by taking up only the first monitor and giving a wave ride to Option "AutoAddDevices" "on" Option "AutoAddGPU" "on" that did the rest, taking all the screens up and leaving the rest to System -> Preferences -> Hardware -> Screens for me (where you can select to disable one screen or the other, set the usual position of screens, set the prefered resolution and mirror the screens or not. I attach my reduced xorg.conf for your convinience (remember to replace BUS ID with your real one) > 3) the software that accompaign Mate is few or doesnt run, eg the > power management utility doesnt function It sounds that you need to start the messagebus like per installation instructions, but it is not essential. > 4) the context menu by right clicking anywhere on the desktop has no > application menu This really have no solution for now. About Caja it seems all OK to me, now. Dan ------ Blog: https://bsd.gaoxio.com - Repo: https://code.5mode.com Please reply to the mailing-list, leveraging technical stuff.
