I coded a *couple* of dragndrop web interfaces too and I can confirm that with Firefox the dragndrop is an historical problem (on -stable) and it is not just matter of "a last upgrade" (ie of -current).
Seen the reply of Stuart I tracked a couple of *drops* of .txt from Thunar to Firefox: from /home/user from /home/user/Desktop from /home/mydir from /tmp and only the drop from /tmp succeeded.
