The book uses egress in the way 99.99% of all internet users use it, and it works fine for those cases. Having two interfaces on the same collision domain is wrought with peril and requires you to be extra careful, which is why the book probably doesn't cover that case, it is one of those "if you want to do this, you need to step up your skills", like triple-booting OSes and such. Apart from egress getting set to where default routes are, there is nothing particular about this interface group from a group you make yourself, so "I need to put ix0 out of group egress, and em0 and em1 in group egress. How do I do it?" You might aswell just put em0/em1 into a group named "exit" and then string replace "egress" in example pf.confs with "exit" and you'd be done. -- May the most significant bit of your life be positive.
