OpenBSD file(1) is very rudimentary in general. As an example, try using file(1) on a Microsoft Word .docx document or Excel .xlsx spreadsheet, or `file -i` on a MS Word .doc document (gives "application/octet-stream" instead of "application/msword"). This is because of security, and it is a valid reason. However, it should be kept in mind when dealing with OpenBSD file(1).
