To be honest, i never tried with less number of files/folder opens, or event another such solutions where we can restrained the max entries of kdemenu in a config file. Sorry if the hundred thousand of files triggered you, I would never think that is too much to open at the same time, but that's one (of many other solutions, probably) I find to resolve without change it in the future. Sorry again, if my advice given is worthless too
