Collecting mouse switch and Unix compatible has been my passion for a lot of time. I then gave up with the switch too (selling two of them for who is interested!).
As they already said you depend a lot from the brand of the switch. Anyway there are some pearls here I noticed: keep yourself on basic mice, and avoid stuff 1000dpi up.
