My meaning was this one. In case you want to enforce mac comparison it is better working in pf.conf on the interface with *portable* rules like this one than going on specifying mac addresses here or there: pass in on $ext_if proto tcp from any to any port 25 Indeed, I see, portability is an hard to obtain status also in pf, when the if change.
