Indeed, that’s pretty much what all people are saying online but also see
people reading
that advice and still having issues when they purchased laptops, right. Like a
wifi card
may work but only up to a specific model, etc.

And much of the threads and advice are years and years old. I was even digging
into
threads in 2013 up to current and only of the blog posts I found on running
openbsd as
a primary workstation was by me in 2019, and that was the newest.

Was looking for concrete laptop brand models for myself but also others since
most
replies are what you said, which technically are correct but don’t ultimately
answer the
question for folks wanting to just get a laptop that works by default (it’s an
expensive
gamble that may make folks give up and go elsewhere, which sucks because it is
completely preventable.

That’s why jcs list of openbsd laptops is so helpful. It may be the only one on
the
Internet for modern age laptops.

I like to tinker but also wait a daily driver that “just works” from the start
and pretty much
Only had jcs list to go by for the ideal requirements (light, not ancient, and
everythting
works).

I appreciate the help regardless :)
