If you just want PHP/GD, don't install the GD port, just the GD extension for PHP, and build the NO_X11 flavour. No such option if you want rrdtool, though xbase isn't all that big and you don't need to run an X server, so you don't need machdep.allowaperture. Having X gets you better fonts in GD.
