Hi! Not to question or criticise existing practices here, just making sure that I understand the situation correctly.
Suppose that I'm running -stable (i.e. I installed a supported release and am running syspatch regularly) and I want to use a few packages. I would like to be able to install security patches for those, should the need arise. I'm not interested in updates otherwise. https://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq15.html#Intro says: > Binary packages for -release and -stable are not updated. Does this mean that I should either build the packages from ports myself, as described at https://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq10.html#Patches > Use the -stable ports tree > > Fetch (or update) your ports tree, run > the /usr/ports/infrastructure/bin/pkg_outdated script to list any > packages in need of rebuilding, and issue make update in the affected > port directory. To be alerted of port updates, consider following the > ports-changes mailing list. or use someone else's binary packages (e.g. those from m:tier); no other options? -- Best regards, Ivan
