I will beat others to the punch and say you were looking for Ubuntu not OpenBSD.
OpenBSD is plenty easy to use, but the type of easy to use you describe with a full desktop environment is not the target. However installing gnome is simple enough. Several sites exist describing it. I am guessing from your output though you have not setup dbus which is required for gnome.
