Such a low-grade processor may not have sufficient speculative prefetch to cause the problem, but it is very strange to see the bit set which indicates it is invulnerable. Did someone know ahead of time about this problem and a speculative-prefetch bit already existed and Intel did bravado to indicate it was the new checking mechanism? Or was the bit already there and reused to indicate this?
