I tested it with 3.8 AMD64 and then 3.8 i386.

I loaded the i386 snapshot from 24 Jan 06 and it had the same final
error.
It also gave during the boot:

The PCI IRQ settings can be changed in the bios, they are set to auto by
default, and still are.
Turning on and off PnP in the bios also made no difference.
Installing on a IDE HDD with the SATA HDD still connected resulted in
a failed boot with the same error as well.
Installing on a IDE HDD with the SATA HDD *disconnected* removed the
error and it came up as normal. This is with i386 24 Jan 06 snapshot.
Removing the first SATA HDD changes the error to pciide2:1:0 as would be
expected.
I have tested the disks with Western Digitals software and it does not
show any problems. They work with a single CPU so this is not suprising.
