Of course, people who don't suffer from this particular problem don't want to fix it. They simply don't have any need to fix it. The problem has been acknowledged, and people have suggested workarounds, and given you reasons why it's not immediately solvable without more effort on your part. That's where this conversion could have ended with a one liner from you such as "OK, bummer. Anyway, thank you for your time" and it would have been entirely appropriate.
