In light of all the recent activity on misc about "will OpenBSD run on
X?" perhaps someone would like to host a wiki for strange/new hardware?

Are you volunteering?
It wasn't long ago that the "OpenBSD Metastore" got going, amid some
controversy. I haven't heard anything about it lately.
You've heard nothing about it lately because I was under the impression
that the Iron Fist(tm) had ruled on the subject and had deemed the
Metastore un-apropos for [EMAIL PROTECTED] However, since someone *else* has
brought it up...
Last I looked,
there were a handful of useful things there that you could look at, and
links to online sources to buy them. As long as you weren't from Taiwan,
that is.
Well, they say that the world is unfair. I'm crying on the inside.
Anyway, I think it's not as easy task. And also it's not
something that you do once and move on. It would be an ongoing,
substantial commitment for someone. Personally, I wish there were such a
resource, but I can understand why there isn't.
Pocket update of the Metastore:
I'm still working on it. Currently it's about 80% reimplemented in
Catalyst (thank you bda), but it's continuously back-burnered among
other projects that I'm working on, e.g. making money for things like
food and heat. This ain't my day job, in other words. The last little
piece of it is some code to impart to it the ability for users to paste
in dmesgs and have the Store analyze them for drivers that it "cares"
about, in order to identify hardware (pci X + dev Y + function Z +
identification string == "Yoyodyne Card Z", as identified by other
purchasers of the product) and to provide means for the OpenBSD usermass
to identify hardware. This requires more attention than I am currently
giving it; it's going slowly, but it *is* going.
AFA being reachable from Taiwan or other points in this world, there are
some other hosting offers that are somewhat more world-friendly than I.
However, in traditional automorphic interlocking clusterfuck syndrome,
endemic to all projects involving bytes, I want to get the
reimplementation done before I kick it out the door to be hosted
elsewhere. When I am satisfied about its presentability to the world,
I'll hand it off to one or more of those who have expressed an interest
in hosting it somewhere that is not my home DSL connection. Until
then, Taipei will simply have to suffer.
The items haven't been updated in the last month; I'll work on that
sometime this week. For those who want to, you can see what's there
(and submit new stuff) at: http://www.openbsdmetastore.com/
