Not that this is much help, but the reason I asked is I have (had) an AP (made by WD) with a similar problem. Worked without problems with 6.0, then sometime after that the new 802.11n code made it disappear. Can't associate, can't see the AP at all in ifconfig scan. The problem is unresolved (I ended up replacing the AP). There is a particular kind of packet which seems to be "invisible". But I'm out of my depth. Nobody else had seen this, but you appear to be the lucky second victim.
